Jody makes great sausage. What does she look like? ![]()
Well, He is a handsome, strong and highly creative entrepreneur who loves to satisfy people's appetites. Jody was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley where he would often spend time working in his father Max's gourmet butcher shop. Max would make Jody make sausages, a chore he hated. When Jody graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, he started taking charcuterie classes and incorporated his Dad's early sausage-making lessons with those of some of the San Francisco Bay Area's finest chefs. Today, Jody lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kathy, Executive Vice President of the company, and their four children...and loves making and creating sausages!
What's the deal with that mural? ![]()
That is Jody's phantasmagoric vision of his world. Jody Maroni's began on the Venice Beach Boardwalk in 1979 amidst a carnival rampant with jugglers and muscle-builders, sun-worshippers and hucksters. These people came from all over the world to stride the boardwalk and view the Pacific. From his window where he gave out samples to all-passersby, it looked to Jody like a sea of colorful, wondrous and happy people, and reminded him of the early days of the carnival and eastern seaboard boardwalks of which he had read. Jody had an artist paint his vision which is now used on everything from t-shirts to wall murals in all Jody Maroni stores.

What makes it gourmet? ![]()
Jody Maroni took the Mystery out of Mystery Meat! We don't grind it into a fine, emulsified mess. Even our Bratwurst and our Polish, two very standard and traditional flavors, are not made like everyone else's. We grind our meat more coarsely. We use only natural ingredients. Just look at our green sausage, our famous Yucatan Chicken & Duck (or Turkey) sausage made with Cilantro, Serrano Chilies and Beer. Nothing in the world of sausage ever looked or tasted this way before Jody Maroni came up with this wondrous flavor. Once you have tasted a Maroni sausage, everything else will pale in comparison.

What's the best way to cook my Maroni?
We hope you are talking about our sausage. If you have pre-cooked or smoked sausage, we suggest placing it on direct heat - hot barbecue, griddle or frying pan. Brown on both sides (should be firm to touch) and serve. If the sausage is frozen, you can defrost by leaving it in water for 15 -30 minutes or even in the microwave for a very short period of time - maybe 1-2 minutes on medium heat. The idea is to get the casing crisp and brown before serving.
If you have raw sausage, you should bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. Then, place on direct till brown on both sides. Do not overcook. We do not suggest piercing the skin or slicing sausage while cooking since that let's out the delectable juices within.
